F.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4018_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1623\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4018_sm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"dscn4018_sm\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had taken a temperature reading of the shingles exposed to the sun, and they read at 165 deg. F.\u00a0 Surely too hot for bees to live just underneath.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4020_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1624 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4020_sm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"dscn4020_sm\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4022_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1626 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4022_sm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"dscn4022_sm\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the soffit was opened &#8211; my concerns were confirmed.\u00a0 The comb had melted, and dropped &#8211; and only about 100 bees were left in the void of the soffit.\u00a0\u00a0 Wax moth and Small Hive Beetle larvae were already present &#8211; so timing was good for this as a &#8220;clean-up&#8221; job.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4024_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1625\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4024_sm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"dscn4024_sm\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, the space was filled with insulation, and the soffit put back into order.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4027_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1627\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/Dscn4027_sm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"dscn4027_sm\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Though bees were active in this space days prior to the removal &#8211; it may have simply been robbing activity.
