{"id":1569,"date":"2016-08-05T16:55:56","date_gmt":"2016-08-05T21:55:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/?p=1569"},"modified":"2016-08-05T16:55:56","modified_gmt":"2016-08-05T21:55:56","slug":"utility-company-bees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/?p=1569","title":{"rendered":"Utility Company Bees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Another beekeeper received an EMERGENCY call about honeybees that needed to be removed from a telephone utility box.\u00a0 He was unable to make it &#8211; so contacted me to see if I was available.\u00a0 I was able to respond for the company &#8211; and take care of the bees.<\/p>\n<p>The box as I approached it:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3840_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1554\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3840_sm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3840_sm\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The insides&#8230; Uh &#8211; were a mess of wires.\u00a0 This took TIME and precision work to not disrupt anyone&#8217;s home telephone service (does anyone actually HAVE a land-line any more?)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3842_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1555\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3842_sm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3842_sm\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3843_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1553\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3843_sm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3843_sm\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My main tools for this removal were the smoker &#8211; to run the bees out of the box and collect them &#8211; and a LONG carving knife that reached way down to carefully trim out the comb.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3844_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1552\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3844_sm-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3844_sm\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once finished, the wires were tucked back up into the cover, and I was on my way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another beekeeper received an EMERGENCY call about honeybees that needed to be removed from a telephone utility box.
