and he had not even started a removal yet.\u00a0 Unprepared, he tried to pry up flashing with a pry-bar, without using the proper tools (i.e. smoker at a minimum).\u00a0 The bees let him know that he was in their territory!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3818_thompson_b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1539\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3818_thompson_b-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3818_thompson_b\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3817_thompson_a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3817_thompson_a-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3817_thompson_a\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When the bees came out to meet him &#8211; he immediately declared them to be &#8220;Africanized&#8221; and told her that she needed to call a professional.\u00a0 I&#8217;m glad she did.\u00a0 When I performed the removal, the bees were docile, and amicable to moving to a new home.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3820_thompson_c.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1538\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3820_thompson_c-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3820_thompson_c\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The soffit was opened up, and the comb exposed&#8230; I knew they would probably be hiding in the upper-level soffit as well, and suspected some comb would be up there &#8211; and I was correct,\u00a0 There was another 10-12 pieces of brood and honey comb up in the higher portion of the soffit.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3821_thompson_d.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1537\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3821_thompson_d-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3821_thompson_d\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3830_thompson_e.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1536\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3830_thompson_e-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3830_thompson_e\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once the bees were fully removed, the soffit space was filled with insulation, then new soffit boards were put into place, and the seams caulked.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3835_thompson_e.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1535\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3835_thompson_e-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3835_thompson_e\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3839_thompson_f.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1534\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Dscn3839_thompson_f-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn3839_thompson_f\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Kim had been interested in beekeeping &#8211;
