{"id":1375,"date":"2016-05-09T17:14:18","date_gmt":"2016-05-09T22:14:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/?p=1375"},"modified":"2016-05-09T17:14:18","modified_gmt":"2016-05-09T22:14:18","slug":"cliff-side-bees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/?p=1375","title":{"rendered":"Cliff-side Bees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bees have lived in this soffit for a short amount of time.\u00a0 The property was being sold, and the new buyers wanted the bees to be removed as a part of their purchase agreement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2974.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1351\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2974-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn2974\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While the bees were in a 1st floor soffit &#8211; it was a high soffit&#8230; and a precarious drop below my ladder footing.\u00a0 The picture below shows my view from the ladder.. down to a creek bed another 20-30 feet below the ladder footing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2981.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1354\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2981-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn2981\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The bees presented a strange phenomenon &#8211; there was plenty of brood, and plenty of bees&#8230; and we had a good nectar flow going on at the time &#8211; HOWEVER &#8211; the comb was dry as a bone.\u00a0 No honey stores whatsoever.\u00a0 This, friends is why you feed your bees if there is a dearth of nectar that is acceptable to them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2978.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1352\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2978-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn2978\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2982.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1355\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2982-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn2982\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Once the bees and comb was removed &#8211; the space was filled with insulation, and put back together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2984.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-thumbnail wp-image-1357\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bohemianutopia.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Dscn2984-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Dscn2984\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bees have lived in this soffit for a short amount of time.
